Weapons to Ukraine, Italy could supply Kyiv with the cybernetic system that captures Russian drones

Among the new weapons Italy could send to Ukraine would be a cybernetic system capable of “stealing” Russian drones and landing them on friendly territory. The system is called Guardian and its integration with other anti-drone systems was presented by Leonardo last September. The Italian company took part in a British program to protect against enemy drones and managed to combine Ninja electronic technology, patented by an American aviation laboratory, with the British Royal Air Force’s Orcus anti-drone system.

How does it work

In short, the Ninja system is capable of electronically taking command of an enemy drone, and its integration with the English Orcus – on top of Leonardo’s Guardian system – offers soldiers (actually real electronic operators) previously unthinkable opportunities for engagement. In fact, Guardian emits a very precise, long-range electronic noise that can reach a point in the sky, while the Ninja software creates a targeted short-range cyber effect that takes control of a drone and flies it to a safe location can .

The weapon system requires qualified personnel to use its full potential, but surprisingly, Kyiv is a popular European university for electronics and therefore the Ukrainian army seems to be prepared. In addition, the Kiev artillery already uses sophisticated GPS ammunition (2-meter error at 30-kilometer launches) for guns supplied by the Americans, Canadians, Dutch and French. The new artillery available to Kyiv is supported by radars that make it possible to identify the guns used by the Moscow artillery. Once identified, Russian batteries can be silenced, as western howitzers have a longer range than Russian ones.

The other weapons

Among the new heavy weapons that Italy could send to Kyiv, the M-109 self-propelled gun with a range of 18 kilometers stands out. It is an outdated weapon system of American origin, but Italy retains some efficiency from it, albeit parked in special depots for a number of years.

Meanwhile, the list of NATO equipment sent to Ukraine is growing every day: tens of thousands of the latest generation anti-tank missiles, two thousand Stinger anti-aircraft tanks, over 200 Soviet T-72 tanks sold to Kyiv from Poland and Slovakia , guns Self-propelled multiple rocket launchers. NATO Air Force cargo planes are literally clogging Polish and Romanian airports. It is no coincidence that the Russians almost daily bombard the Tisza River bridge on the Romania-Ukraine border with precision missiles, which was rebuilt in the early 2000s to connect the Ukrainian town of Solotvino with the Romanian town of Sighetu. A busy bridge at night with heavy trucks.
