Fog, rain, possibly icy ice… an impressive meteorological cocktail awaits in southwest Quebec on Thursday, while the northern coast and east of the province will be bathed in sunlight all day.
The weather system expected earlier in the week will sweep past Quebec on Thursday, plunging the southwest of the province into rain and fog.
Environment Canada has issued a fog warning for several regions and is urging drivers to exercise caution as “visibility can suddenly drop to almost zero during fog.”
Visibility on the road should improve as the morning progresses.
Precipitation, drizzle and clouds are forecast in southwestern Quebec, particularly in Montreal, Outaouais and Estrie, where a high chance of precipitation is expected.
In Abitibi-Témiscamingue there is a risk of freezing drizzle early in the morning.
A sunny day into the night is expected in Gaspésie and the north coast, offering clear and pleasant conditions.
The Quebec and Charlevoix region will have a mix of sun and clouds during the day. Skies will gradually become cloudy in the late afternoon and early evening, with a risk of freezing rain overnight.
