Despite the dropping temperatures, Quebecers can enjoy a fairly sunny Sunday before the week begins with snow and rain.
The forecast temperature for Sunday in Montreal is 6 degrees with generally sunny skies. In the direction of Quebec the temperature drops to around 4 degrees, and there are still clear skies on Sunday. Which, according to experts at Environment Canada, is completely within seasonal norms.
Intermittent rain is expected in Estrie until the end of the afternoon.
Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Saguenay, where light snow is expected, should remain below freezing.
These will also be the regions most affected by the weather system that will cross Quebec from the west early in the week.
Rainfall was expected to begin in Abitibi overnight Sunday into Monday and then spread to the rest of the province throughout the day.
Precipitation in the form of rain is expected in regions south of the St. Lawrence River, while snow will fall in Abitibi and regions to the north. Quebec may receive a mix of snow and rain.
An average of 5 to 10 mm of rain is expected in warmer regions, while 5 to 15 cm of snow is expected in colder regions.
