The National Hurricane Center (NHC), Miami, Florida, USA, issued its Intermediate Advisory Bulletin Number 3-A on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 7:00 a.m. EST (6:00 a.m. Central Time) in Mexico.
The document shows that the tropical disturbance was located near latitude 16.8 north and longitude 79.6 west at 7:00 a.m. EST (6:00 a.m. Central Mexico Time).
The system is moving northeast at a speed of about 11 mph, and this movement is expected to continue with increasing forward speed throughout the weekend.

According to the forecast, the center of the system is expected to move over Jamaica later today, to southeastern Cuba early Saturday, and to southeastern Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands later Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds are around 55 km/h, with stronger gusts. Further strengthening is possible over the next few days and the disturbance could become a tropical storm later today or tonight.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1,004 mb (29.65 in).
The chance of a storm forming in the next 48 hours is, on average, 50%.
