Internet users complained on Tuesday evening (12) about a gap in the script of Land and Paixão. Several social media profiles pointed out that Jonatas (Paulo Lessa) could not easily access Gentil’s (Flávio Bauraqui) bank account. “Only in the soap opera does the son ask for a bank statement from his father’s bank and the bank shows it straight away,” said one viewer.
The public remembered that the farmer in Globo’s nine o’clock soap opera couldn’t let his own son violate his banking secrecy. Manager Franco (Gil Coelho) didn’t even ask Menah’s brother (Camila Damião) for any kind of documentation to pass on the information.
“Jonatas, it’s a pleasure to welcome you here at the bank since you never show up. From the look on your face I know you want to make an investment, an investment. It’s a perfect day with great interest rates,” the bank teller said.
“I don’t want to make an investment. I came here at my father’s request to find out his account balance. He keeps fiddling with the app,” the country producer lied and handed Franco a piece of paper with the password.
“Strange. The balance is zero,” emphasized the employee, who raised a red alert for Paulo Lessa’s character. He suspects that Agatha (Eliane Giardini) took the last penny from Gentil and he’s right.
The sequence was heavily criticized on X, the old Twitter. “Only in soap operas does the son ask his father for a bank statement and the bank shows it immediately. My uncle disappeared seven days ago and the bank cannot help my aunt for legal reasons,” Rennan Lau wrote.
“That bench in the soap opera is a zone, isn’t it? Every character that gets there asks for information about someone else’s account and the manager passes it on,” added Karen Mabel.
