Mid-May weekend, uncertain weather, a spring that is desirable but does not demoralize Rome. In fact, in the capital there are many events scheduled for the weekend dedicated to culture, entertainment and shopping. On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May – which is also Mother’s Day by the way – Rome offers a program full of events that involve everyone.

The main initiative of the weekend is the Night of Museums 2023, the exceptional opening of cultural places in the capital from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the symbolic price of 1 euro. Space also for the typical dishes of Roman cuisine, which become the protagonists of entire festivals and, in turn, vintage and hippie markets, concerts, street food, comics and much more.

The night of the museums

The Night of Museums is an event that has been taking place simultaneously across Europe since 2005. With a symbolic ticket worth 1 euro (unless otherwise stated), it is possible to visit the most beautiful cultural centers in the city at unusual times. The capital is therefore preparing for the new edition of the Night of Museums 2023, which will see the opening of 80 rooms with 60 exhibitions and a calendar of around 130 shows, as well as guided tours and educational activities for all ages. Carbonara and Amatriciana Festival

Amatriciana or Carbonara? Which of these Roman first courses do you prefer? You can decide or confirm it at Eataly this weekend. On the third floor of the big market in Piazzale XII Ottobre 1492, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th, you can taste different versions of the two famous Roman recipes. At Ercoli 1928 you can taste the fresh Maccheroncini all’amatriciana and the fresh Mezze Maniche Rigate alla Carbonara; by Flavio Al Velavevodetto the timeless Rigatoni alla Carbonara; Pastificio Secondi offers its ravioli stuffed with ricotta with Amatriciana sauce and pecorino with pomace, and ravioli stuffed with cheese and egg with crispy bacon. The Vintage Market returns to the Ex Deposito Atac in Piazza Ragusa on May 13th and 14th, offering the last unmissable event of the season. There will be 200 exhibitors from all over Italy, 6,000 square meters (shared with the farmers’ market) and the usual range of exhibitors: artisans, artists and illustrators, vintage, handmade, home decoration, design and stylists, vinyl and books, clothing , games and books for children, organic cosmetics, plants and flowers, upcycling, collecting. On May 13th and 14th, the Hippie Market returns to Appia Joy Park. An event for the whole family to breathe the atmosphere of yesteryear in an emotional village full of hay bales for two days of fun and relaxation.
