On stage for the rest of the world

Anyone who has seen the wonderful direct cinema film “Pour la suite du monde” by Pierre Perrault, Michel Brault and Marcel Carrière will be forever influenced by it. The crew of Théâtre La Trâlée took inspiration from this masterpiece for their latest, inventive production. On the stage of the Théâtre La Bordée in Quebec: shadow plays, object theater, screenings of film excerpts and broadcast of previously unpublished images. The history of the people of L’Isle-aux-Coudres and their traditional porpoise fishing provides rich theatrical material. This very moving show directed by Lorraine Côté is proof of that.

Scene from the play Victor by the company La marche du crabe

The transition from childhood to adolescence is the focus of the play “Victor,” which premieres this Sunday. This creation from the company La marche du crabe follows a little boy the day before he starts school. The hero is split between the fear of the new and the excitement that comes with the possibility of becoming someone else. Written and directed by Simon Fournier, this work, a sequel to the children’s play Amarelinha, speaks of identity, grief and courage. Aimed at young people aged 10 to 13, it will be played outdoors at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday on Île aux Volcans, at the corner of De Drucourt and Marquette Streets in Montreal. Admission is free.

Dominique Fils-Aime

Dominique Fils-Aimé will return to Montreal on October 17th and 18th at the TNM surrounded by five musicians. The singer-songwriter, who has just released her fourth album “Our Roots Run Deep”, is already convincing on record. But it is only on stage that his universe of different shades of soul unfolds its full dimension, often much jazzier, always enveloped by his subdued and warm voice. The elegant atmosphere of the TNM should be conducive to an evening full of nuance and power.

If you want to see a circus cabaret in Monastère this year, now is the time to make your reservations: there are still seven performances available in October, with the next ones not taking place until March. The Monastère circus cabarets have been organized by Rosalie Beauchamp and Guillaume Blais since 2016. In an “intimate and warm” setting, the audience can see original creations by around ten circus artists, including Colin Andrés Escarpolette Hériaud and the German wheel with Fred Lemieux. The show takes place on a 360-degree stage at the St. Jax Center in the sanctuary of an Anglican church in downtown Montreal. The performances will take place on October 12th, 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th at 8 p.m.
