Wendy Williams back in rehab for drug problems

Wendy Williams has checked back into rehab to address her drug issues amid her falling out with production company Debmar-Mercury, Page Six has exclusively learned.

“It’s gotten worse,” our source shares. “She switched from wine to straight vodka.”

It’s not known where Williams is being treated, but she previously sought help at centers in Florida and Long Island City, New York.

We were told that Williams’ health and addiction problems were worsening after her former daytime talk show’s production company allegedly “refused” to get her help.

“They turned their backs on her,” our source now explains. “You were in too much control of someone so vulnerable.”

Williams’ ex-husband Kevin Hunter previously claimed to Page Six that Debmar-Mercury would not engage in behavior that would drag the 58-year-old shock jock from her once-iconic purple chair.

“Debmar would not support Wendy’s recovery efforts with the family,” Hunter told us in July. “They would not sign anything that would have helped their recovery efforts.”

Hunter, 50, went on to claim that Williams’ family took part in an intervention of sorts with Debmar-Mercury, where he and the group discussed how to help Williams in her battle with alcoholism.

“They sat at a meeting with their entire family, including their late mother, and didn’t want to sign off on the recovery efforts that would have helped Wendy get well and live and be sober,” he told us. “They basically said, ‘If you don’t stop drinking, you’re going to lose the show.'”

Concerns about Williams’ health and well-being resurfaced in early August after the former radio host claimed she was married to an NYPD officer.

“Things are really over. It’s not the same Wendy… She’s been going back like crazy and her family in Florida is very worried about her,” a source told Page Six at the time.

Amid the drama in her personal life, Williams’ public life also suffered as she entered a public fight with her bank Wells Fargo after being locked out of their accounts. In response to the drama, her former attorney claimed in a lengthy statement to Page Six that William’s former financial advisor, Lori Schiller, “left her to die for.”

Schiller never responded to the allegations.

Williams has battled substance abuse since the beginning of her career. She became sober and remained so until she appeared to relapse in late 2018 or early 2019. At the time, she was on hiatus from her show for two months, but claimed it was treatment for her Graves’ disease. She later managed to enter a transitional home to maintain her sobriety.

“Only Kevin knows about it. Not my parents, nobody. Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here,” she shared on her show about her treatment center in March 2019 with Dreistaat [area] with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family.”

Williams’ rep confirmed to The US Sun that the “How You Doin’?” The hostess is in a “spa” to “manage her general health issues.”
