A Palestinian was killed on Thursday on the second day of an Israeli raid in Tulkarem, northwest, Palestinian authorities announced in the occupied West Bank, where tensions have been extreme since the start of the war in Gaza.

On Thursday morning, 27-year-old Mohamed Faysal Daouas was shot in the chest in the Nour-Shams camp on the outskirts of Tulkarem, said the Palestinian Health Ministry and a local official, Rami Alyan, who told AFP that he was a civilian.
Asked about the Nour Shams operation, an Israeli army spokesman, without commenting on the death of the young Palestinian, told AFP that his forces were involved in an operation aimed at “exposing explosive devices hidden under the streets.” were targeted before they responded.
The army entered Nour-Shams, one of the two refugee camps in Tulkarem, “after midnight” on Wednesday night and “destroyed streets and some houses,” said Mr. Alyan.
On one street, an AFP photographer noticed the complete destruction of one house, while several others were badly damaged.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least 360 Palestinians have died there since October 7, killed by the Israeli army or Jewish settlers.
