Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus are splitting up again after Miley Cyrus’ mother filed for divorce from the musician and actor. This is the third time in their more than 20-year marriage that the duo, who reportedly have no prenuptial agreement, are headed for a divorce — so how much is at stake now? With multiple houses and a hefty net worth, Fox News Digital spoke to a legal expert handling the estranged couple’s recent filing.
In the filing recently obtained by Fox News Digital, Tish, 54, requested no spousal support or attorney’s fees — also known as costs of the matter — which, according to David Glass, a board-certified family law attorney and partner at Enenstein Law, likely means she has enough access to Cash has that she doesn’t feel the need for Billy Ray to muster up any of his own bangs.
“The parties haven’t lived together in over two years … since just before the pandemic hit February 2020,” Glass told Fox News Digital, adding that it’s unusual to live apart for such a length of time before declaring the breakup requested.
Tish Cyrus – real name Leticia – married Billy Ray Cyrus in 1993. In addition to pop star Miley Cyrus, Tish shares daughter Noah Cyrus, 22, with Billy Ray. She also has two other children: Trace Cyrus, 33, and Brandi Cyrus, 34, from a previous marriage to her first husband, Baxter Helson.
“The parties lived in LA at the time, but it appears Billy Ray has moved back to Tennessee,” Glass added, while “Tish remains here in LA because her file was notarized here.”

Given that Billy Ray has a long-running career as a country music artist and songwriter, the crooner’s net worth in terms of the couple’s combined fortune is $20 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
In addition to a career in music, Billy Ray also earned a paycheck from his role as Robby Ray on Hannah Montana.

Meanwhile, Tish’s net worth — along with that of her estranged husband — also totals around $20 million through her appearances as executive producer and Miley’s manager, but also through her own reality show Truly Tish, which ran from 2013-2014 .
Tish and Miley were also guest judges during a 2013 season one episode of the reality show Styled to Rock.

According to Glass, “there was no request for spousal support — suggesting there are enough assets to share and generate capital gains and/or that each party continues to earn enough to support their own lifestyles.”
“Since there are no minor children, the most commonly discussed issues of custody and child support will not be part of this divorce,” he added. “And by not asking for spousal support, another contentious issue is taken out of the game.”

Glass claimed that strategy likely played a role in the state where Tish ultimately filed, noting that some states make divorce petitions public while others often don’t. California makes divorce petitions public unless sealed.
With both parties remaining in business, their conversation about sharing ownership appears to have the potential for both an open and closed discussion.

LA PLACE VS. NASHVILLE ACCOMMODATION
It’s unclear when Tish and Billy Ray bought their 1,200-square-foot Nashville home from the 1940s, but according to Tish, it underwent a complete renovation and is now 3,000 square feet and five bedrooms. Miley even has her own guest house, Tish told Architectural Digest in 2017.
As for her home in Tinseltown? Tish was also involved in decorating the 4,000-square-foot Spanish-style venue. The four bedroom, four bath home was originally built in the 1930’s and also underwent a complete makeover including a kitchen makeover which Tish shared in 2021.
Tish filed an injunction for her marital property, meaning neither party can transfer or hide any of her assets.

“Tennessee is a ‘equitable distribution’ state, meaning it is not community property, so there is no presumption that property accumulated during the marriage should be divided 50/50,” Glass said. “The court can do 70/30 or 60/40 or whatever it wants.”
Glass pointed out that this phase of Cyrus’ divorce seems to be “the easiest issue to solve,” especially considering the couple has filed for separation two previous times, likely making the third time the proverbial charm.

According to Glass, “the fact that this is the third time either one has filed for divorce shows that they’ve been through the ‘litigation process’ before and want to avoid it.”
“Ideally, Billy Ray and Tish would have their attorneys examine their combined balance sheet and figure out which assets each will keep — to avoid splitting individual assets and/or selling assets to split the proceeds,” he added.

While Miley and Noah Cyrus have yet to publicly comment on their parents’ split, Glass believes the couple will likely finalize their divorce fairly quickly.
“This is certainly a case where they should be able to resolve things very quickly and without appearing in court,” he said. “They should be able to reach an agreement, put it in writing and never have to show up at the courthouse.”

The couple shared a joint statement with People magazine, which read: “After 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways – not with sadness but with love in our hearts. ‘ reported the branch.
“We grew up together, raised a family to be so proud of, and now it’s time to go our own way.”
“We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving experience together as friends and parents. We didn’t come to this decision lightly or quickly, but with so much going on in the world we wanted to provide some clarity and closure. so we can focus on what matters most,” the statement said. “With love and hope…Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus.”

Tish filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, on April 6, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to court filings obtained by Fox News Digital.
