In just three days, Formula 1 cars will hit the track at the Miami International Autodrome (or: Hard Rock Stadium parking lot in Miami Gardens, Florida). I’m boarding a plane tomorrow morning bright and early to get there early, and that means it’s that time again: What do you want to know about the Miami Grand Prix?
This is a brand new track, meaning it’s relatively unknown in the Formula 1 sphere. We know a few things, like the fact that tickets were insanely expensive and that Miami Gardens residents have no interest in hosting a race. We know there is some kind of marina full of yachts. But we don’t know much more.
Because of that, I’m here. Look at me your eyes and ears on the ground. If you have wondered about something, I will find you an answer. Wondering what the food is like at the race track? Count me in. Curious if there will actually be water in this fake marina? I’ll find out – and I’ll even measure its depth for you. Would you like to know more about the track itself or the parties that take place around the race? Curious about the celebrities? Are you planning to attend the race in the future and want to know where is the best place to sit? Just want to know if there are rides? Wondering how the locals are reacting to the race or how F1 staff have reacted to their criticism? i got you covered Ask away!
Also, I will also be attending some VIP parties at the Red Bull Guest House, which will be my very first experience of doing anything fancy during a Grand Prix weekend (aside from the time my friends and I decided to go there to a fancy VIP dinner after the Canadian Grand Prix and later cried when we got the check; let this be your warning that you can’t afford it if prizes aren’t readily available). Do you want to get a glimpse behind the scenes? Trust me: I’m here.
And if you’re in Miami – let me know! Jalopnik isn’t organizing any formal meetups for this event because to be honest I’m inundated with scheduling conflicts, but I’m happy to greet anyone I can find!
