One year after the Russian attack, pacifists want to end the war by stopping German arms deliveries. That’s a very simple thought.
“What do you need, Putin, to be happy?” Political scientist Ulrike Guérot recently asked this question on a talk show. She thinks that Germany shouldn’t depend on tank supplies, but move closer to the Kremlin. She’s serious.
And she is not alone. More than half a million people signed a “Peace Manifesto” calling on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) to immediately stop arms deliveries to Ukraine. According to surveys, 39% of the German population considers it a mistake to send German war tanks to the country and 58% would like more diplomatic efforts. Even in Austria you can find one or the other who can understand this.
