His good performance with the Albinegro team (he won the Tata Martino) was worth being called up to the Paraguayan U20 team for the South American of the category who played in Uruguay in 2003. There he scored in his country’s 4-2 win over Chile.

After finishing third in the said South Americans’ hexagon, Paraguay got tickets to the World Cup and Blas López joined the Guarani team that played at the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. In July 2004 he began his first experience outside his country: in the Montt port From Chile.

His constant team changes stopped in 2009 when he joined Sport Huancayo, a club that had just been promoted to the first division. He played nine straight seasons with Rojo Matador. For a long time he was Sport Huancayo’s historic scorer with 31 goals, but then he was overtaken by his compatriot Carlos Neumann. He was also the player with the most games with the Red Matador (247) until his retirement in 2017. Today that number was surpassed by Peruvians Marcos Lliuya (280) and Joel Pinto (270).

After retiring from the Huancaino team at the age of 33, ‘Chiperito’ left professional football and returned to his native Paraguay. Despite the distance, he keeps up to date with Sport Huancayo news. This has been demonstrated on his social networks, where he gives his opinion on the occupation of the central Sierra.
