The select group of footballers who played for both Universitario and Alianza Lima is not very wide. One that’s been very well remembered lately is Julio Landouri, the left, who sported a very recognizable haircut in the final years of his career. Most have it in mind for its blue-and-white past, but its early days were painted cream and pink.
Julio Landauri is from Callao and made his pro debut with the Sport Boys. Though there were doubts about his swelling at some point, he revealed in a 2020 interview that he was from the “Misilera.” The Peruvian midfielder featured in many other teams at the local tournament and had one of his best seasons at Inti Gas in 2013. Thus, his good punching power and skill put him in Alianza Lima orbit.

Julio Landauri joined the university in 2008, the year he was headed by Ricardo Gareca. The Tigers’ usual tactic was a 3-4-2-1, and Landauri was used in several games with a profile changed to the right. The “U” won the Apertura relatively comfortably, but the team failed in the Clausura. He stayed in 2009, the year he became national champion with Reynoso, although he enjoyed little continuity.
With Alianza Lima, he was unable to win the title in any of his three seasons at the end of the year; However, he became champion of the Inka tournament in 2014. The athlete put on a very balanced performance throughout his stay at La Victoria: as a left midfielder, he was the undisputed starter for all the coaches that went through the club. When his time in the blue and white team ended, he signed with Sport Huancayo.

What happened to Julio Landauri?
The 2017 season was very remarkable for Julio Landauri. He added a few more goals to the regularity he had at Alianza Lima and finished the year as Sport Huancayo’s top player. Although it has received little media attention in recent years, it has always been a starter and has been consistent on all teams it has been with. At Real Garcilaso in 2018 it was just a spare.
Unfortunately, beyond his consistency at an individual level, Julio Landauri has suffered two relegations in his last two seasons in professional football: he lost the category with Alianza Universidad (2021) and Carlos Stein (2022). The 37-year-old veteran midfielder has been unveiled as Cerro de Pasco’s new Ecosem player. He is managed by Erick Torres in the preseason.
