José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão) will prove that he actually has a sealed body by escaping death twice in the first chapters of Renascer. The little colonel is shot in an ambush arranged by Belarmino (Antonio Calloni) and Firmino (Enrique Diaz), but manages to outwit the gunmen in Globo's nine o'clock soap opera.
After a dispute with the stranger over the lands of Cândida (Maria Fernanda Cândido), Firmino will persuade Belarmino to kill the boy in this Tuesday's episode (23).
The Almighty will then order two murderers to do the dirty work. “I have been informed that tomorrow, when day breaks, he will make a journey to Ilhéus… And he should not arrive there!”, the villain will advise.
Deocletian (Adanilo) will actually remember Inácia's (Edvana Carvalho) premonition and worry about his friend. The farmer will beg José Inocêncio not to travel alone, but the appeal will be in vain.
After being attacked by Venâncio (Fabio Lago), who was angry because he noticed the boy's interest in Maria Santa (Duda Santos), the protagonist is still ambushed in the middle of the forest.
Some kind of intuition will take over the scene and the cocoa producer will sense the danger. But it will be too late: the murderer already has the good guy in his sights. “If it's the body that's locked, go for the head!” whispers the criminal before shooting straight away.
José Inocêncio will jump off his horse when he hears the shot and pretend to be dead. The Jagunço will come out of ambush and scoff: “It's like saying: There is such a thing as a closed body not…The only thing that exists is bad aim!”
But he will get scared if he tries to turn over the “corpse”. The good guy turns around and shoots the villain, who falls back and drops the revolver. “Quiet, otherwise I swear I’ll kill you!” Humberto Carrão’s character will threaten with a pointed weapon. “For God’s sake, don’t do that,” the henchman will beg.
“So tell me: who do you answer to?” the protagonist will demand. “I don’t know, I swear to all my gods I don’t know. I just received the order… I swear to you! For the love of God, I'm injured and unarmed. Leave me here and “Move on,” the murderer will ask.
José Inocêncio will regain his calm and put down his weapon. “I won't kill you… But you won't get away that easily!” he says. The farmer will try to use the shooter to discover his tormentor.

More threats
The little colonel also begins to deal with the hatred of Venâncio, who swears to death as soon as he finds out that the newcomer has his eye on Santinha. Belarmino will take advantage of the official's anger and try to convince him to murder Inocêncio in exchange for land.
But a misunderstanding will throw the fate of the good guys into chaos. Innocent and without sexual education, Maria Santa will believe that she became pregnant by the farmer after kissing him at the waterfall. The young woman will then tell her father everything and end up standing at the door of Jacutinga's (Juliana Paes) house “in disgrace.”
José Inocêncio will even try to pursue his lover, but Belarmino will lie and say that the girl left the region with her family. Out of love, the little colonel agrees to buy the enemy's cocoa crop in return for Santinha's whereabouts. Then the boy will finally meet the girl again in the town's brothel.
Does José Inocêncio die?
In the January 27 chapter, Antonio Calloni's character will plan a new ambush against José Inocêncio. The villain will shoot the protagonist and celebrate his supposed triumph.
Inácia will tend to the boss's wounds, while Deocleciano and Jupará (Evaldo Macarrão) will spread the news of the little colonel's death throughout the region. Even Belarmino and Firmino are invited to the fake wake.
The farmer decides to take advantage of this and confess to having shot José Inocêncio, who sees everything from the coffin. The stranger will arise and frighten the enemies by revealing himself to be alive.
But shortly after the performance, the two colonels are mysteriously murdered. José Inocêncio will swear that he has nothing to do with the crimes and only cares about pursuing Santinha.
Jacutinga will tell the boy that the protégé will only leave the brothel as a married woman. Then the cocoa producer will organize the wedding with his true love.
Renascer was written by Bruno Luperi and is an adaptation of the 1993 work by Benedito Ruy Barbosa. As with Pantanal (2022), the author intends to follow his grandfather's original plot and make few changes to the story.
