What if…? Season 2 ended yesterday and head writer AC Bradley joined X today to announce her departure from the MCU animated TV series.
Confirmation of the third season episode around Red Guardian and The Winter Soldier – An extended clip of this recently went online – will be her final script for the show, Bradley explained, “After the second season, I decided to leave Marvel. It was fun, but it’s time for new adventures and media.”
This news comes as a surprise, especially since we've already heard that the plan calls for “What If…?” to only last three seasons. However, all of these episodes were developed in relatively quick succession, so it's unlikely that the series will feel all that different when it returns to Disney+ next year. It's also worth noting that “What If…Red Guardian Stopped the Winter Soldier?” was another season 2 episode that was delayed due to time constraints.
Back in July, Bradley made headlines when she took aim at Marvel Studios after she was underpaid for work on it Ms. Marvel. You can read more about this here.
Bradley wrote the book “What If…?” Episodes “What if… Captain Carter was the first Avenger?”, “What if… Doctor Strange lost his heart instead of his hands?”, “What if… Thor was an only child?”, ” As for “If… the Guardian broke his oath?”, “What if… Iron Man clashed with the Grandmaster?” and “What if… Captain Carter fought the HYDRA Stomper?”
She also co-authored What If… the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes? and What If… Happy Hogan Had Saved Christmas? with Matthew Chauncey and What If. .. the Avengers gathered in 1602?” with Ryan Little.
