The animated film Brave was released in 2012. It shows the story of a princess by name Merida. Though forced to follow the customs of her kingdom, she chooses to follow her own destiny by defying an ancient tradition.

The feature was directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman and was part of the 13th animation created by Pixar Animation Studios. It was also the first Pixar animation to feature a female lead.

Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, the film received high marks from critics, earning an approval rating of 77% on sites such as Rotten Tomatoes. Also, the production is the first fairy tale style the studio has produced.

Merida is a Scottish princess who unleashes a series of problems while battling her matriarch. The character is 16 years old and loves archery.

Determined to challenge the queen, she trades her locket with a witch to change her mind. However, this causes her mother to turn into a bear and Merida must act before it’s too late.
