The hottest new fashion trend known as Barbiecore has taken the world by storm lately, and many stars are turning to the one-of-a-kind Barbie doll for style inspiration.
The trend seemed to start in March when Valentino hosted a catwalk show for Paris Fashion Week and had all the guests dressed in bright pink glamorous outfits.
Famous faces like Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Vanessa Hudgens all attended the event in sparkling pink gowns – and many people were quick to note that their looks resembled what the beloved doll might have worn.

The Barbie craze soon followed, and many other stars sported bright outfits and girly clothes as well — including Florence Pugh, Hailey Bieber, Lana Condor, Beyoncé, Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa, and Khloe Kardashian.
Even male stars got involved, with Harry Styles rocking bright pink shiny pants and a matching vest during his performance at the Coachella music festival in April, and Sebastian Stan sporting an all-pink look at the Met Gala in May.
Gymnast Nastia Liukin was one of the latest stars to take part in the trend – she posted a photo of herself in flared pink pants and a white and pink plaid bikini top on Monday while visiting the beach in Malibu, California.
The fad also took off on TikTok, with users creating their own Barbie-inspired looks and sharing them on the app using the hashtag #Barbiecore – which has now garnered more than 15 million views.
LTK, an affiliate marketing platform, said in a press release that they saw a 194 percent increase in “purchases from Barbie-related posts,” according to Buzzfeed.
And according to Good Morning America, searches for items in pink on Etsy are up 35 percent year over year.
“With many nostalgically hoping for simpler, sunnier, and more carefree times, it only makes sense that this ’80s-inspired, no-holds-barred pink aesthetic should take center stage as summer’s It style,” Etsy trends expert Dayna Isom Johsnon told the Drain.
“A much-lauded mood-lifter in recent years, Barbiecore is all about embracing vibrant hues—particularly the doll’s signature hot pink—in everyday life.”

As of 2020, the Barbie Fashionistas line includes 176 male and female dolls with nine different body types, 35 skin tones and 94 hairstyles, People reported.
The brand has worked hard to become more inclusive over the years, recently launching a doll with hearing aids, one with a prosthetic leg and one with the skin condition Vitiligo.

A woman named Imani Fahrah, 29, from New York, described the look as “movement,” “vibe,” and “aesthetic” while speaking to Insider about barbiecore.
“Barbie is diverse now. She had many different jobs. She’s a doctor, vet, real estate agent. These are women, these are girls. We can be anything,’ she said.
“Barbie is a character. Women start their own businesses. They ditch the boring black suits at work. We say, “I’m here. I’ll show up at the store, at parties, wherever I want.”‘
A beauty influencer named Tara, who often dresses in barbiecore, added that she sees it as a “feminist statement.”
“It’s okay to wear bright pink and stand out, you can dress however you want,” she explained. “It’s about owning your look. You feel great and you feel empowered.
“Initially, Barbiecore was about getting out of COVID. There was an emphasis on party dressing, night dressing and admitting your sexuality. [Now]it has spread into work culture and street style with pink power suits.
