What will be the role of the queen consort now

What will be the role of the queen consort now attributed to Camilla?

With the death of Elizabeth II, a new title appeared in the royal family: that of Queen Consort. A role that now falls to Camilla, Charles III’s wife. The granting of this title has been debated for years because of his affair with who was still Prince Charles when he was married to Princess Diana. She could have become Princess Camilla and declined the title of Queen consort.

For his part, Prince Philip had opposed any change in the title. He did not want to become Prince Consort, Prince of the Commonwealth, or Prince of the Realm (as Winston Churchill once intended). That is why he became a prince in 1957 and remained so throughout his life. However, Queen Elizabeth II had expressed her “sincere wish” during her Platinum Jubilee that Camilla would become Queen Consort in due course.

Watch out for pens

The time has come, and with it certain responsibilities. In fact, the role of the queen consort is to accompany the king on his travels and on his duties. But that’s not all.

As the King’s consort, the Queen Consort is one of the Councilors of State, alongside the four members of the Royal Family who are directly inherited. And with this role, he has new responsibilities, as we learn on the royal family’s official website. “Councillors of State are empowered to carry out most of the sovereign’s official duties, such as attending Privy Council meetings, signing routine documents and accepting credentials from new ambassadors to the United Kingdom.”

Hopefully, Camilla has fewer pen worries than her royal husband.
