Luxurious soundtrack for one of the great successes of recent French cinema.

Paul Bogart (New York Trilogy) adapts Raymond Chandler’s novel My Little Sister. Although James Garner isn’t the best Marlowe imaginable (he’s measured against actors of the caliber of Humphrey Bogart), the film happily rescues the atmosphere the series breathes. Very entertaining.

The story itself, as with the first installment, is very standard, and the absence of Laura Dern and Sam Neill hamper the effectiveness of a somewhat unbalanced cast. Still, it’s entertaining.
