After filming masterpieces such as “In the City”, “Fiction” and “A Gun in Each Hand”, Cesc Gay found his way thanks to this film in which, faithful to the style of his cinema, he shows an emotional portrayal of characters that range between the endearments moved, finally great success and the bitter. Truman does not look to the bleakness that reigned in the city or the teardrop that is present in fiction, but instead captures a gentle comedy tone (albeit full of edges) wrapped in an exquisite script whose dialogue is laced with astonishing veracity the faces live gestures and the words of Darín and Cámara.

The war will destroy their lives. It all hits in this masterpiece, which travels through idyllic terrain for the first hour of footage, only to later explode in a wild wave of anger and despair.

The black book follows the adventures of a woman in the Netherlands at the end of World War II in a plot that talks about survival and human atrocities in addition to various wartime adventures, keeping pleasure and death as the fixed drive of its characters and as the narrative engine of the story.
