It is a Feature every WhatsApp user dreams of. Ever wanted to send or read a message on WhatsApp when you don’t have your smartphone handy? Would you like to chat from your computer or from a tablet? Of course it’s possible, but this seemingly harmless process is far too tedious.

The current procedure for linking your main WhatsApp account to one or more devices is not the most convenient. Even a thorough knowledge of WhatsApp tips and tricks cannot escape this: you must always identify yourself by scanning a QR code on the main device. While this allows access to conversations and their history, it does not allow access to all the features of the application. Therefore, if you do not have your main smartphone at hand, messaging is not available.

WhatsApp becomes easier to use on multiple devices at the same time

Meta will remove all these WhatsApp restrictions with a companion mode. This is a multi-device support extension that allows you to link your existing WhatsApp account to another mobile phone. Once the existing WhatsApp account is linked to a secondary mobile phone, “you can finally access your chats on the second device without requiring an active internet connection on the primary phone”. According to WABetaInfo, it will eventually be possible to use your account on two to four devices.

Meta therefore offers all Android testers the Download WhatsApp beta version 2.23.8.2 and give feedback after using it on different devices. Unfortunately, if you have an Apple smartphone, you cannot use this function from your mobile phone. Companion mode is not yet available for iOS. On the other hand, if you also have an Android smartphone, nothing prevents you from downloading the beta to it and using your iPhone as a second device.
