The Russian political opponent died on February 16 at the age of 47. In a recent documentary dedicated to him, he already mentioned the possibility of being killed.
Like a farewell message. Alexei Navalny died this Friday, February 16th, at the age of 47. The death of the Russian political opponent was announced by authorities in the Arctic Prison, where he was serving a 19-year sentence.
While the circumstances of his death remain unclear, the man who tirelessly denounced the oppression and corruption of Russian power has already mentioned the possibility of death in the Navalny documentary released in 2022.
“My message in case I get killed is very simple: Don’t give up,” he explains in front of the camera, “I forbid you to give up.”
“If they decide to kill me, that means we are extremely powerful,” says the Russian political opponent in this Oscar-winning 2023 documentary.
“Don’t remain passive”
Alexei Navalny also calls on the Russian people “not to forget, to remember that we are a giant power. A power oppressed by these evil people,” referring to Vladimir Putin.
“We are not aware of the strength we possess,” Navalny continued, adding that the only thing necessary for the victory of evil is the passivity of righteous people. So don’t remain passive.”
The Academy Award for Best Documentary Film was awarded in 2023 to Yulia Navalnaïa, wife of Alexeï Navalny. During the ceremony, the Kremlin opponent's wife declared: “I dream of the day when he will be free, and when our country will be free, stay strong, my love.”
