The San Diego Padres pitchers and catchers were due in Peoria three weeks ago, and almost two weeks after spring practice games were due to start, baseball is finally back.
Negotiations dragged on for nearly 100 days, but Major League Baseball and the Players Association reached an agreement on Thursday for a new CBA that ended the lockout.
Per Kevin Acey of the San Diego Union-Tribune: “Many sources say players have until Sunday to report to spring training bases, although some are expected to take longer due to visa or other travel issues.”
The Padres will play their first spring practice game on March 17 or 18 and open the season on April 7 against the Diamondbacks in Phoenix, a week later than originally planned.
