Kanye West’s career — as far as public events go — has taken a hit after multiple online tirades over his divorce from estranged wife Kim Kardashian, and brand pundits are now weighing what’s next for the Ye rapper.
Earlier this month, West was banned from the upcoming Grammys, and there was also overwhelming public support to keep him from headlining Coachella.
A West rep confirmed to Variety that the rapper will not be performing at the awards show due to his “worrying online behavior.” Meanwhile, a petition to remove West from headlining Coachella has garnered over 40,000 signatures.
“We have observed Kanye harassing, manipulating and hurting Kim, Pete and others for over a year. No one seems to want to oppose him, and he fires at those who do, too,” the petition reads.
“Lately he’s been threatening others with actual physical harm. That’s ridiculous that he’s allowed to do that voluntarily. Coachella (along with other brands that still work with him) should be ashamed and not stop giving him a platform. Please.” sign & share!”
Coachella officials have not responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the matter.
The hit for West’s career stemmed from a handful of social media rants in which the rapper targeted Kardashian, Trevor Noah, Corey Gamble and Kardashian’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson.
Grammy NewsCelebs spoke out about the show’s decision, with Noah, who is hosting the awards show, tweeting, “I said advising Kanye not to cancel Kanye.”
