The Buenos Aires Declaration, he commented, is a very substantive, powerful document that addresses a wide range of the most important issues currently being discussed at the international level in the United Nations, such as climate change, migration, women’s progress and the protection of people in precarious situations.

The Vice Chancellor said the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace had been ratified; Issues related to human rights have been addressed, with the protection and promotion of all rights for all, and issues of sustainable development have also been widely addressed, particularly in our region.

“The reaffirmation of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace was a cross-cutting point in the declaration and in many of the special communiqués adopted by our leaders, which sends a very clear message of this pacifist vocation, this vocation, to problems based on the principles of international law, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states, which is the vocation of the Latin American and Caribbean region,” affirmed Rodríguez Camejo.

He added that eleven special communiqués have been negotiated, including three presented by the Cuban delegation, which have received unanimous and strong support from CELAC members at national coordinator level, and of course we hope that they will also be adopted tomorrow during the Summit of Heads of State and Government.

“One on the blockade, that is, the demand by the Commonwealth of Latin American and Caribbean States for the lifting of the United States blockade on Cuba; a second special communiqué was presented by our country on the subject of terrorism, the international fight against this scourge, and in this communiqué there is a specific request from CELAC members to exclude Cuba from the bogus list of countries allegedly promoting terrorism, unilaterally approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States to be prepared”.

We have presented a third communiqué, he commented, which addresses the issue of nuclear disarmament, also an issue warmly welcomed by the Latin American and Caribbean region. “Recall that it is the first densely populated area on the planet to be declared nuclear-free; It is the first zone, also at international level, to declare itself a zone of peace, which calls for the total elimination of nuclear weapons, through the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean, that is, the adoption of this special communiqué on nuclear disarmament.

The other communiqués that are also very relevant are, for example, about the advancement and empowerment of women, about harmony with nature, about languages ​​and the diversity that there must be on the planet, in relation to indigenous issues and about the topic of cooperation in energy is important, added the Deputy Minister.

“It was a very fruitful day, the documents are ready to be discussed and analyzed by our Heads of State and Government and we hope that they will be adopted and can contribute to the success that we are sure to have at this VII CELAC will have peaks. in which we will participate 33, countries of the Latin American and Caribbean region, with renewed presence in the community of Brazil,” he concluded.
