British actor Theo James has landed the lead role in the upcoming Netflix series The Gentlemen, based on the 2019 action-packed drama of the same name.
The Divergent star, who went completely nude in the latest episode of The White Lotus, will play the fictional character Eddie Halstead, who “inherits his father’s considerable estate only to find out” it’s a “Weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson”.
In the Guy Ritchie-directed film, Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) was a drug lord trying to sell his profitable marijuana business to a dynasty of billionaires.

James will begin production on the highly anticipated series adaptation in London next week.
The announcement comes just days after he sent the internet into a frenzy for his daring scene in the first episode of season two of The White Lotus.
James’ frontal display quickly sparked a firestorm of excitement on social media, while some fans wondered if he wore a prosthetic penis for the performance.

James spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the nude scene, and while he didn’t address speculation about Hollywood improvements, he admitted the moment was originally meant to be more graphic.
“The first version we shot was way too much. So we made a more subtle version. You tinted it [down]’ the actor teased.
He went on to indicate that “it has a purpose” and said his nudity was “interesting, [because] first…we don’t know if it’s on purpose or [if] it is random. But it reveals itself.”

When asked how it felt to bare the entire camera, the hunk, who has already shown a lot of skin on the series The Time Traveler’s Wife and in Sanditon, said it felt “natural”.
‘It’s funny because we’re all kind of naked. It really is a holiday show,” James mused.
James went on to say that joining The White Lotus, which has won five Emmy Awards, was “surreal.”

“It was all pretty great,” he gushed to ET. ‘The first half [of filming] We were all in the same hotel together, which was very convenient because we got to know each other very quickly.”
Jennifer Coolidge is believed to be the only cast member from Season 1 to return for Season 2, which was filmed and filmed in Sicily.
