WHO calls for the creation of “humanitarian corridors” and the release of hostages held by Hamas

MADRID, 11 (SERVIMEDIA)

The World Health Organization (WHO) called for the creation of “humanitarian corridors” to facilitate the delivery of health and humanitarian supplies to Gaza, as well as the release of hostages “held by Hamas from Israel.”

As the WHO reported in a statement, the meeting between its Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ended with his agreement to allow the delivery of aid to Gaza through the border crossing. Rafah – -the only border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

WHO offered assistance to health workers in both Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. He also expressed concern about the possible imminent exhaustion of the fuel used to power emergency generators in hospitals in the Gaza Strip. “A life-saving health response now depends on new supplies and fuel reaching health facilities as quickly as possible.”

For this reason, the company assured that it is working to source medical supplies locally to meet needs and is providing supplies from its World Medical Logistics Center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

On the other hand, the organization called for the “safe release” of the hostages “abducted from Israel by Hamas” in the October 7 attacks and ensuring “their medical and health needs.”
