Gonzalo Verón and the origin of the millionaire trial against Independiente
Gonzalo Verón was born on December 24, 1989 in Moreno, Argentina. Coming from Sportivo Italiano, he took his first steps in the first division at San Lorenzo de Almagro. He won the 2014 Copa Libertadores with Barça and played at the Club World Cup that same year. In 2015 he made the leap into the MLS and progressed through the New York Red Bulls and DC United. After his release, he joined Independiente in 2018.
Verón became a new red player at the express request of Ariel Holan, who had just won the Copa Sudamericana. Unfortunately, this was the moment that marked the decline of his career and marked the beginning of difficult episodes marked by intimidation, insults, threats and constant fear. The attacker added just over 1,000 minutes in 18 games at Independiente, of which he completed very few. In July 2019 he was loaned out to Aldosivi. Red was supposed to pay 50% of his salary but never did. When it was his turn to return to the club in the midst of the pandemic, Verón sent a document letter for the debt, which received no response.

As a result of this abuse, Gonzalo Verón declared himself fired and sued Independiente for the first time for $6.2 million. This sparked a whole legal battle, in the midst of which the footballer decided to leave the country for his safety, filed a complaint of fraud and the club’s accounts were confiscated. It has been established that Independiente owes Gonzalo Verón, who only wants justice, $10.97 million and that it all ends this year.
