According to its own information, the World Health Organization (WHO) was unable to enter the northern Gaza Strip for twelve days in the ongoing war between Israel and Islamic Hamas.
A planned mission to al-Awda hospital was canceled for the fourth time because safety was not guaranteed, the WHO announced on X (Twitter) last night.
Heavy bombing, limited movement options and disrupted communications made it “almost impossible” to supply medical supplies to the isolated coastal strip and especially to its north.
Hospitals are severely understaffed as medical staff fled following calls for evacuation, the UN agency said. Safe and unimpeded access to the northern Gaza Strip is urgently needed, said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
