Whoopi Goldberg was forced to tell Alyssa Farah Griffin to “listen” during Thursday’s edition of The View as chaos erupted on the panel during another heated political debate.
Whoopi, 67, was visibly frustrated as Alyssa, 34, and her other co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin yelled at each other while discussing the Republican presidential debate that took place on September 27.
After letting Sunny and Alyssa argue for about a minute, the Sister Act star decided to speak out, telling the judges, “I was silent for everyone,” and was visibly upset that her co-stars were raising their voices .
Alyssa was also upset by the debate, as she glanced at executive producer Brian Teta every time someone interrupted her, and when she finally got the chance to say something, she was livid as the theme song played began playing as the show prepared to cut to a commercial break.
The former White House aide appeared to have a hit defending former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, but when the music started playing mid-sentence, she appeared exhausted as she told the jury, “I had a lot more to say!”‘
Whoopi Goldberg yelled at her co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin to “listen” during Thursday’s edition of The View as the panel descended into chaos during a discussion about last night’s debate. Alyssa, 34, spoke quite passionately about Wednesday’s Republican political debate. The presenters continued to talk over each other as they tried to share their opinions
The camera immediately switched to Whoopi, who gave Alyssa a look and then replied sarcastically, “Unfortunately, it’s only an hour-long show, so we can’t do that.”
Nikki Haley was certainly a bone of contention on the panel, with Sunny, 54, calling her a “hypocrite,” while Alyssa argued that her fellow Republican laid out decent policies and ideas at the debate.
“Here’s my problem with Nikki Haley… when people say, ‘What did you do?’ I really wanted to know what she had done. What politics at the United Nations, because that’s what she is,” Whoopi said when Alyssa interrupted and claimed, “She’s a successful two-term governor.”
But Whoopi wasn’t having any of it and retaliated, “Wait a minute!” She was a good governor, she wasn’t a great governor, and you might think she’s the cat’s meower, I’m not!
“So when I listen to her, I want to hear someone say, ‘And here’s what we’re going to do…” Whoopi continued, while Alyssa shot back, ‘Did you all see it?’ I thought she did!’
Whoopi confirmed that she had seen the debate on TV and responded, “Listen, I’m listening to the Republicans, listen, I’ve been sitting there listening to you and I’ve been silent for everyone, so I’m just saying…” Alyssa intervened again and said: “Yes, you listen to everyone, you do.”
Determined to finish her piece, Whoopi added, “I tried, but I didn’t hear what I needed to hear as an American, which was: What are you going to do about this and that?” I don’t want to know about the wars, the culture wars, I don’t want to hear anyone talk about culture wars…”
“She didn’t bring it up…” Alyssa said quietly, but Whoopi didn’t miss a trick and shot back, “The whole panel was talking about culture wars, and that’s the problem for me.”
Sunny Hostin looked visibly upset as Sara Haines and Alyssa tried to interrupt her. The moderators repeatedly talked over each other as they each tried to express their personal opinions about the candidates’ performance in the Republican debate. The View hosts talked a lot about former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley
The show then went to a commercial break, but when it returned, the panel was still discussing the Republican debate and yelling at each other.
Mother-of-two Sunny lashed out at Nikki again, arguing that “fracking is a huge climate change issue” and when Sara and Alyssa tried to interrupt her, she refused to let them.
“If I could finish…The other thing about Nikki Haley is when she was governor, I agree with you. Whoopi, I don’t think she did such a great job as governor, especially because she’s a flip-flopper. “That’s why I call her a hypocrite.”
Alyssa then spoke up again and announced: “We have to have a battle of ideas and I think there is something better for this country than Donald Trump versus Joe Biden again.” “Nikki Haley is the closest thing to me.”
When Joy asked what Nikki’s position on Ukraine was, Alyssa immediately responded, arguing that she wanted to help them win the war against Russia, but as she continued chatting, The View’s theme song started playing, stopping her in her tracks.
Alyssa threw her hands up in frustration and glanced at the show’s executive producer, Brian, as Joy told her, “Go ahead, finish your sentence,” but Alyssa refused, claiming she “had a lot more to say.” .
The tensions between the hosts didn’t go unnoticed and viewers were quick to take to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their thoughts.
“Whoopi needs to check on Alyssa.” I’m tired of the condensing tone she uses towards Sunny and she doesn’t respect Whoopi at all. “#enough #TheView,” someone complained.
Viewers accused former White House adviser Alyssa of “talking about everyone” during the debate. This isn’t the first time Sunny and Alyssa have clashed over politics
Another wrote: “You need to tell Alyssa to stop.” She’s trying to talk over everyone. You’d think Nikki Haley was her mother the way she defended her. Let people have their own opinions #TheView.”
A third viewer commented: “AFG talking about everyone and pushing their Republican bullshit #TheView,” while a fourth simply said: “Yeah talk about it whoopi #TheView.”
It comes just days after Whoopi compared Donald Trump’s supporters and former staffers to members of a “cult” in a heated interview with his former White House adviser Cassidy Hutchinson.
Cassidy, 27, who worked in the White House and was also an assistant to former chief of staff Mark Meadows during the Trump administration, faced tough questions from a panel on Tuesday about her decision to go to the former’s Mar-a-Lago resort afterward President to address the attack on the Capitol on January 6th.
