Who’s a billionaire who gave away $1 million a week?

It’s not new that billionaire Rob Hale is contributing to charities. According to Forbes, the cofounder and president of Granite Telecommunications — a communications company based in Quincy, Massachusetts — is valued at $5 billion from his stake in the company. According to the portal, the businessman and his wife Karen donated (and will) donate US$1 million (5.19 million reais) to charitable organizations every week throughout 2022.

Entrepreneur and visionary Rob is known not only for growing and developing the Granite business and team, but also for his philanthropic work alongside his family. His social commitment has brought him awards and honors over the years.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he received the 2014 Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award for his dedication to saving lives, and in 2017 the Breast Cancer Research Foundation commemorated him with Karen with the Carolyn Inaugural Humanitarian Award Lynch.

The man’s acclaim, ranked by Forbes as the second richest businessman in Boston, doesn’t stop there. In 2018, honor came from Brigham and Women’s Hospital with the Heritage Key Award. In addition, Partners Healthcare welcomed Hale’s with the Jack Connors Philanthropic Leadership Award, according to the professional profile.

In 2019, The Chronicle of Philanthropy listed the entrepreneur as one of America’s 15 Most Generous Philanthropists. Granite was also recognized as the Most Charitable Company in Massachusetts in 2019.

Hale has been recognized as a leading entrepreneur by numerous organizations and publications. Including the Boston Business Journal Power 50, which celebrates the 50 most powerful people in Boston. He has also received the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Award and has been hailed multiple times as one of the 25 most influential people in American telecommunications.

According to his social media profile, he also owns FoxRock Properties, a Bostonbased real estate company. He founded Copley Equity Partners, a private equity firm investing in small and mediumsized companies with significant growth prospects.

That year, according to Forbes, he wrote checks worth tens of millions of dollars to prominent institutions. In an interview with The Patriot Ledger, the billionaire points out that all organizations are “great, they have a community impact, but they’re very small.”

The goal is to have donated $52 million to at least 52 groups by the end of 2022. The Patriot Ledger notes that the amounts are intended for organizations that deal with domestic violence, childhood cancer and palliative care, among others.

In an interview with the portal, Hale said organizations should be able to invest $1 million and pay back at least 5% $50,000 per year. “It gives them a more stable future and an opportunity to say, ‘Okay, we know where the money is coming from and we can focus on doing a good job.'”
