Yoshimar Yotún became the hero of Sporty crystal by scoring the painful goal to defeat Deportivo Municipal. When injury time had already been played on matchday 10 of the Clausura tournament, “Yoshi” decisively converted the penalty that decided the 1-0 for the Rimenses and blew up the crowd at the Alberto Gallardo Stadium. With this victory, the light blue team consolidated itself as the leader of the table and also moved up to first place in the overall standings.
After the goal, the brewery captain celebrated “unleashed”: he took off his shirt, let the fans hug him, imitated one of Michael Jackson’s poses and danced like a cartoon character, which is one of his typical celebrations.

What character does Yotún imitate when celebrating?
The character that inspired Yoshimar Yotún’s famous celebration is pocoyo, protagonist of the children’s series of the same name. Although he already did it at Orlando City in MLS, the game where the player popularized this strange choreography was the game he played with the Peru team against Chile in the 2019 Copa America semifinals.
This time he scored the second goal in Peru’s 3-0 win over La Roja. He then repeated his triumph at Liga MX’s Cruz Azul and Sporting Cristal, to which he returned in early 2022.
Why does Yotún celebrate his goals with the pocoyo dance?
When asked why he imitated Pocoyo when scoring goals, Yotún revealed that it was a special dedication to his children. “I’m doing it for my daughter and for my baby, it’s a cartoon,” he explained on that occasion (after the Chile game).
