Holly Candy has explained why she didn’t attend her younger half-sister Olympia Valance’s wedding to Australian footballer Thomas Bellchambers.

The former Neighbors star and wife of British property magnate Nick Candy was not among the six bridesmaids at Olympia at their wedding in Daylesford, Victoria on June 12 and was also noticeably absent from photos from the event.

Holly, 39, shut down rumors of a family rift during an interview in Studio 10 last week and explained she couldn’t attend because she was diagnosed with Covid-19 just days before she was due to fly to Australia for the wedding.

“I literally just canceled a trip,” she said when asked if she was planning on coming home anytime soon.

“I was due to go home for my little sister’s wedding and got Covid five days before.”

The Kiss-Kiss singer added: “I could barely walk that day and literally canceled my flight three hours before. It was a bit devastating.’

Holly made amends with her sister by “crashing” their honeymoon in Mykonos, Greece.

The couple ended up watching the Neighbors finale there, having both previously starred on the Australian soap opera early in their careers.

Olympia, 29, posted a photo of the duo sipping champagne on the beach at sunset on Instagram and wrote, “WOW. So that’s it, the very last episode of Neighbors. What an end of an era for all of us.”

“Great love from Greece, Flick and Paige,” she added, referring to her characters.

Holly began her acting career in 1999 with the role of Felicity ‘Flick’ Scully in Neighbors.

She left the soap opera in 2002 to pursue a music career, producing hits like Kiss Kiss and Down Boy.

She has mostly stayed out of the limelight since marrying billionaire Nick Candy.

Olympia played Paige Smith on Neighbors from 2014 to 2017, reprising her role in 2020 for the show’s 35th anniversary.

“Neighbors have always felt like home to me,” Olympia recently told Neos Kosmos.

“There’s a reason all the Neighbors call it the best training ground in the world.”

She said she was deeply saddened by news of the show’s cancellation in March following the loss of her main UK broadcast partner Channel 5.

“I feel like I grew up with neighbors. It’s very special to be stepping back into Paige’s footsteps as Australia bids farewell to its most iconic television programme,” she added.
