Why are Sport Boys referred to as “the first champion”?

Traditionally, the Lima Cricket Football & Club is considered the first champions of the old Peruvian football league, which began in 1912. Later, in 1926, the amateur era began, the first winner of which was Sport Progreso. So if it didn't win any of these first editions, why do the Sport Boys call themselves “the first champion”?

The reason for this particular nickname is related to the beginning of the professional era in the Peruvian First League in 1951. This year the team won the cup Sports boys by Rafael Asca, Marcos Calderón, Valeriano López and other stars of the time.
