Why Israel is delaying the start of its ground offensive on Gaza

DECRYPTION – Ten days after the deadly Hamas attacks in Israel, the IDF has still not launched the ground response long awaited by the population.

It has already been ten days since the Hamas hordes descended on Israel and massacred at least 1,400 people. For ten days in retaliation, the IDF peppered the Gaza Strip with bombs, killing more than 2,600 Palestinians. The Israeli reaction remains at a distance for the time being. But the Jewish state also withdrew some 350,000 reservists and positioned tanks, armored vehicles and artillery around the Palestinian enclave, ready to use them militarily to “wipe out” Hamas.

Last week, the threat of a ground operation in Gaza grew greater by the day. The ultimatum for Palestinians to evacuate the north of the territory was set to expire at midday on Friday, which already led to an attack over the weekend. In the New York Times, a senior Israeli official confirmed that the operation was originally planned for this weekend. This Tuesday it still didn’t fire.
