Their antics have historically overshadowed the team’s performance.

This time, the English stars’ wives and girlfriends have made a pact to ditch designer clothes and jewelry while watching World Cup matches in Qatar.

Instead, the Wags have opted to wear replica jerseys to avoid the limelight. Harry Kane’s wife Katie, 29, and Jack Grealish’s model friend Sasha Attwood, 26, wore the white Three Lions shirt, while Harry Maguire’s wife Fern, 28, featured in the red co-stripe and Megan Pickford, 26, donned yellow jersey decided to match goalkeeper husband Jordan.

A very public legal battle also ensues between the wives of footballers Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney. A source close to the camp in England told the Chron: “For so many years, football matches have been a fashion show. This Wags gang is very different.

“They are there to support the team and don’t do everything just for them. Nobody sits there and discusses what they’re wearing – it’s talking about what’s happening on the pitch, not off it.”

The Foreign Office has advised visitors to Qatar that women are expected to cover their shoulders and not wear short skirts.

It is understood some of the WAGs, including Ms Maguire, 25, and Ms Pickford, 26, were upset at the revelation that Ms Vardy had snapped a paparazzi shot of WAGs outside a restaurant during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The women had no idea what Ms Vardy had done until it came out in court documents, so are determined to stay under the radar this time.

One WAG said: “None of us want it ever to come to that again.”

WAGs like Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Tweedy left FA bosses furious at Germany 2006 as they partied and shopped in Baden-Baden while staying at a different hotel from the team.

Their dancing on tables and expensive bar bills grabbed more headlines than the England team, led by Sven-Göran Eriksson. It prompted Eriksson’s successor, Fabio Capello, to ban wives and girlfriends from the 2010 World Cup.
