At the end of August, Montreal group Choses Sauvages will embark on a 27-day tour of the United States, accompanying American group The Bright Light Social Hour. This is a first for this French-speaking funk-rock formation, which is opening doors abroad more and more.
The Shazam application, which lets you know on your phone what song is playing in a public place, is something of a catalyst for this new US tour by Choses Sauvages.
In an interview with Le Journal, the group’s lead singer and bassist Félix Bélisle says that psychedelic rock group The Bright Light Social Hour accidentally discovered Choses Sauvages in Montreal thanks to Shazam.
“They had a drink at Escogriffe [Bright Light y a joué en mai 2019] and they heard one of our songs. With Shazam, they realized it was Wild Things. You fell a little in love with us. »
The Americans then came into contact with the Quebecers. When Choses Sauvages traveled to Austin to attend the South By Southwest Festival last March, Bright Light invited them to take part in a show. The power passed and the idea of touring together this fall was born.
Everything cooked in the beak
“We are very happy about this, because it is uncharted territory,” says Félix. Also, they were super nice to us because they went out of their way to get us on the tour. It’s not easy financially to lug around six guys for 27 dates. They signed us to their booking company. »
Among the 27 dates, Choses Sauvages will notably play in Nashville, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
“People will really be there at the Bright Light Social Hour,” says Félix. We cooked almost everything in the beak [en faisant la première partie]. The band fills approximately 300-seat venues across the United States. All we have to do is our work. »
