Will & Grace star Eric McCormack appeared for the first time since his wife Janet Holden filed for divorce after more than 26 years of marriage.

The TV star looked dejected as he wore gym clothes in Los Angeles.

Eric wore a blue zip-up hoodie over a maroon t-shirt and knee-length khaki shorts with pockets. He also wore black sneakers and a cap.

He had a blue leash around his neck as his dog walked alongside him down a tree-lined street.

The star had just picked up his morning coffee to go and a snack in a brown bag.

According to TMZ, the 60-year-old actor’s estranged husband filed the paperwork in court on Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The Hollywood director, who married McCormack in 1997, did not give a date of separation.

Janet is asking for spousal support and reportedly wants to “end the court’s ability to award spousal support to Eric,” the release states.

The Canadian actor – known for his role as Will Truman on the hit NBC sitcom – and Janet have one child together, 21-year-old son Finnigan Holden McCormack.

It is unclear whether there is a prenuptial agreement between McCormack and Holden.

The couple was spotted together on July 24 this year while attending the opening night afterparty of The Cottage on Broadway in New York City, where they posed for a snapshot of their loved ones together.

They also attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 31st Annual Academy Awards Party, held at West Hollywood Park in March.

Eric looked dapper in a black tuxedo and bow tie, while Janet wowed in a plunging burgundy dress. All seemed well between the couple, who held hands while posing together on the red carpet.

And in 2018, Janet supported the actor as he accepted a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Her son was also there for this special occasion.

The duo first met in 1994 on the set of the television show Lonesome Dove in Canada, in which he starred and she was an assistant director.

“I met my wife Janet on the set of a television series in 1994. She was an assistant director. I had just gotten out of a relationship and I couldn’t be trusted. I’ve dated actresses, but Janet was different. “She wore jeans and drove a pickup truck,” he told the Guardian about the start of their romance in 2007.

“There was a bit of mystery and danger, which was fun,” Holden previously told People.

After falling in love, they kept their romance secret for a while.

“At first she wasn’t particularly enthusiastic. She knew that acting was a lot of work: it would be like taking your work home with you. But I managed to convince her,” he shared.

“We had a secret affair in the first season. I mean, dating crew! Actually, it was much worse for her because she wasn’t allowed to give any of the actors preferential treatment.’

However, after she accepted another position after the first season, they made their romance public and appeared together at the wrap party in 1995.

The couple tied the knot on August 3, 1997 and welcomed Finnigan on July 1, 2002.

Five months after they said “I do,” McCormack landed the role of his iconic TV character on Will & Grace.

Eric previously shared that marriage helped him better cope with the new heights of fame when he was younger and single.

“I think I was very lucky that I didn’t become known until I was in my early thirties. “If it had happened when I was younger, I might have been seen falling out of nightclubs,” he told the Guardian.

“I think I acted like a much better person because I was already married when this all happened (I got married five months after I got the role of Will).”
