A day before the Montreal Alouettes defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Gray Cup game, quarterback Cody Fajardo gave a speech to motivate the troops that gave you goosebumps.
As a devout Catholic, the American is not a man who swears a lot. Now, on an occasion like this, he didn’t miss the opportunity to back up his words with a few well-placed blasphemies.

In his address to his teammates, Fajardo spoke about the low expectations of the experts and the underdog role that the Sparrows have embraced so well.
“When I signed here it was crazy because I remember the first predictions about the ranking of the teams in the league. Or [les experts] Did they place us? Ninth,” he recalled in the introduction to a video shared by the Alouettes on Tuesday.
“I remember being at home and watching it. I said to myself, “Fuck you!” Watch us!” That’s what I said,” he said, accompanying his words with a bang on a table.
“When we lost four in a row and they said we had a losing record… Fuck you! You’ll see!”
“When they said, ‘You’re not going to have a playoff game.’ What did I say? I’ll let you see! You’ll see!”
“You won’t beat the Argonauts and their 16-2 record.” I’ll let you see! You’ll see!”
“They’re not going to beat the Winnipeg team. Cody, you’re 0-9 against Zach Collaros.” What did I say? Will see it! You’ll see!”
“I’ll bring this tomorrow,” Fajardo concluded. I will give it my all because I know you will give it your all. Win or lose, I love you. It’s so much better when you win a trophy. The memories created are so much better.”
Inspired by the speech of the man who would later be named Finals MVP, the Alouettes defeated the Bombers 28-24 on Sunday at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton. We’re betting Fajardo will do it again on Wednesday during the Champions Parade in Montreal speech in your pocket.
