Harry will be present for the duration of the events, according to People, while Meghan Markle will join him “after the games start.”

The Invictus Games were created by Prince Harry based on the American games The Warriors Games. This is the sixth edition of this competition for wounded soldiers, war veterans and people with disabilities. The couple’s presence at these games is traditional and has received much comment.

But what’s also being mentioned this year is the likely absence of the Duchess of Sussex alongside Prince Harry in London on September 7 for the annual awards ceremony for WellChild, a charity for seriously ill children, to whom he was a godfather aged fifteen and around which he continues to care for despite his retirement from royal activities in 2020. The comments will be well received, especially as this date coincides with the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s death anniversary. While it’s unclear if Harry will see his family, his wife’s absence makes it easier for him to do so.

According to Page Six, Meghan Markle reportedly used commitments to her two children, Archie and Lilibet, to delay her arrival in Europe.
