Will Mellor furious with his local council after Storm Henk caused a tree to fall: 'It could have killed someone!'

Will Mellor has revealed he is unhappy with his local council after they ignored him.

The 47-year-old actor shared a clip on Instagram showing a large tree that fell on Tuesday due to Storm Henk.

Will had previously warned the council about the “dead trees” and raged that “it could have killed someone!”

He explained: “I just came out of the house because of the wind and looked at the trees. 'I put my decorations down outside and I see that's what just happened.'

Will added: “The tree has been completely ripped out of the ground. “I've been telling the council about these trees for years because they're dead. I knew something was going to happen. It could have killed someone. Look at this!'

He then warned his followers: “Don’t go outside.”

Londoners were urged to stay indoors today as the Met Office issued an urgent yellow warning for Storm Henk, which was dramatically named by meteorologists just an hour before it hit at 10am on Tuesday.

Forecasters predicted there would be “very wild outside conditions” until 8pm, with Mayor Sadiq Khan warning of a “potential danger to life and property” in London.

This came after Will revealed how his family's home fell victim to identity theft in a money laundering scandal in 2022.

Will shares his home with his wife Michelle McSween, whom he married in 2007, and their two children, Jayden (19) and Renee (15).

The actor told Web of the “scary” moment he caught a fraudster moving tens of thousands through bank accounts under his name by hijacking his mailbox.

He revealed that he had seen a man loitering by his house that he did not know.

Will didn't think much of it until his neighbor told him that they had seen the man a few times and had caught them holding their hand in his mailbox.

Curious about what he was doing, Will asked his mailman if he had seen him. His courier revealed that he then pointed to his car as it drove onto his street.

Will went to the car, but before confronting the man, he sped down a side street.

He said: “I took a photo of his number plate and then I have CCTV around my house but at the front I have CCTV at my gate and I checked the CCTV and turned it back on. The last time the policeman was there .

“And I literally caught him on camera with his hands in my mailbox, in broad daylight, in the middle of the day, taking out the mail, going through it and walking away with it like the mailman was coming.” Me I alerted the police.

“But then I found out he was intercepting the mail.

“Before I saw it, he would get it because he or his gang or whoever had opened multiple bank accounts in my name.

“Of course with my address, and there was £20,000 in one, £10,000 in another, and obviously money was being laundered, but if anything had happened it would have come back to me.”

“And of course whatever credit score it would have been, my credit score would have been gone. And so it was bad, really bad.

“And it took him months to get that much money.”

“So I contacted the police and had to try to close these accounts, which was really difficult.”

Will, who works with Shred-it, explained that accounts containing the fraudster's money were currently open and claimed he could not close them.

He said banks had made it incredibly difficult for him to stop money laundering and he wished it was harder for people to open accounts as more than £50,000 was transferred in his name.

The Strictly star said: “What if my kids caught him?” That's the thing.

“It's scary that they come to my house.” They didn't care who was watching because it was broad daylight.

“You’re talking at one o’clock in the afternoon, when your mailman comes.”

This comes after Will revealed that he and his family home were the targets of identity theft as part of a money laundering scandal in 2022 (pictured in 2020 with his wife Michelle McSween and their children Jayden, 19, and Renee, 15).

“And the postman was absolutely livid because he was obviously running after the postman.

“I don't know if I'm the only one.” There could be several, so he just knows when the mailman is coming. He follows him around. When the postman left, he was in the mailbox with all the information he didn't want me to know.

“So all the bank statements that were sent.”

Will said he hasn't seen the alleged scammer since he tried to confront him, but he said the experience has changed him as he is now more careful about where he keeps his mail.

Will now helps encourage companies to send all unwanted confidential documents to Shred-it so that personal information is securely destroyed.
