Will Smith answers Jada Pinkett Smith about her book "Worthy"while she says they are at a point "Nice"

(CNN) – Will Smith shared his thoughts on Jada Pinkett Smith’s new memoir.

The couple has been the subject of several headlines since Pinkett Smith announced last week that they have been separated since 2016.

It’s just one of the revelations in her new memoir, “Worthy.”

The New York Times reported over the weekend that Smith emailed the publication a response to his book.

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half your life,” he wrote, “a kind of emotional blindness sets in, and it’s all too easy to lose sensitivity to that person’s hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”

Over the weekend, Pinkett Smith appeared on “TalkShopLive” with her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and they discussed her book.

Norris said she wanted to clear up some of the “viciousness” directed at her daughter.

“I just wanted to say that the decision to separate was a decision that both of them made,” Norris said. “The two broke up. You didn’t cheat on Will.”

Pinkett Smith and her husband appeared together on an episode of her “Red Table Talk” in July 2020, where she confirmed that she had been in a relationship with singer August Alsina during a difficult period in their marriage.

Pinkett Smith confirmed what her mother said.

“I just need people to know, okay, I didn’t cheat on Will Smith,” he said. “No matter how sad he looked at that table.”

Pinkett Smith later said she was now “in a peaceful place. I’m in a happy place.”

“As far as Will, my relationship with him, you know, we went through this long period of separation … so we could travel separately and take a trip together,” she said. “And it seems like we’ve arrived at a very, very beautiful place together.”

During Pinkett Smith’s appearance on “On Purpose with Jay Shetty,” which premiered Monday, Shetty read a letter that she said came from Smith.

“I applaud you and honor you. If I had read this book 30 years ago, I would definitely have hugged you more,” Shetty read. “I start now. Welcome to the authors club. I love you endlessly. Now drink a Merlot and get some rest.”

Pinkett Smith laughed and said, “You know I can’t drink Merlot.”

“This is beautiful,” he said to Shetty. “That’s why I can’t divorce this joker.”

Pinkett Smith originally admitted that she and Smith had separated, telling NBC’s Hoda Kotb that they were still faithfully married. She said she “made a promise” that there would never be any reason for her and Smith to divorce, “and I just couldn’t break that promise.”

Smith posted a photo to his verified Instagram account over the weekend that showed him lying on a boat while a voiceover could be heard saying, “Fun fact about me: I can take a nap almost anywhere.” , while notifications ring.

The heading reads “Notifications disabled.”

Pinkett Smith responded with laughing emojis in the comments.
