It took place in Pasadena, California on Saturday 54th edition of NAACP Image Awards, the awards given by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People for black personalities who have distinguished themselves through particular relevance in the art world and are therefore deserving of this honor.
Will Smith was not present but won for the slavery drama film he produced, Emancipation – Beyond Freedom: This is Smith’s most important recognition after last year’s Academy Awards storyline, when he slapped Chris Rock in the face in the well-known moment that took place onstage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The singer-songwriter and actress picked it up for him Janelle Monaelast seen at work in Glass Onion – Knives Out.

During the award ceremony NAACP Image Awards, conducted by the singer Queen Latifah, The “Special Awards” went to former basketball player Dwyane Wade, actress Gabrielle Union and civil rights attorney Ben Crump. Serena Williams received the Jackie Robinson Sports Award, which recognizes individuals in sports for excellence in athletics and for their pursuit of social justice, civil rights and community involvement.
Angela Bassett won the evening’s top prize for Entertainer of the Year, as well as Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Winner of Best Picture Award – and Best Actress in a Drama Series.
Two more acting awards went to Viola Daviswho won the best actress award in The Woman King, and to the Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta, which he won as a supporting actor in the film for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
