Queen Elizabeth II, who suffers from mobility issues, did not attend the service at St George’s Chapel in the castle grounds, a staple of the royal calendar.

Also present were the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, with his wife Sophie and their children, and Princess Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew.

The Queen, who turns 96 on Thursday, is celebrating her platinum anniversary this year, marking 70 years on the throne.

Harry and Meghan visited the Queen on their way to the Netherlands to attend the Invictus Games in Windsor, 20 miles west of London. Harry is the founder and patron of the international athletic competition for wounded or ill military and veterans.
