It’s a new excerpt from the book ‘Spare’, available in bookstores from January 10: King Charles III’s second son said his brother ‘smelt of alcohol’ ahead of his royal wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011 .
Prince William and Kate were married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, with the groom’s brother Prince Harry standing alongside his brother during the lavish ceremony. Harry’s autobiography, Spare, isn’t due out until January 10, but excerpts from the book were leaked ahead of its release after it was accidentally sold in Spain.
In one of those excerpts, Harry wrote that in preparation for his older brother’s wedding, Prince William “asked” him to accompany him as he descended to greet people walking along “The Mall,” the boulevard leading from Buckingham Palace leading to Trafalgar Square. Harry accurately wrote that “Willy, already drunk on rum, shouted, ‘Let’s see her!’. In short, the youngest son of King Charles III. Writes that Prince William was drunk on rum to calm his hours before his wedding. Not only that, Harry claimed he told William he “smelt of alcohol” and even offered him mints.
That day, William was reportedly told by the security team that the visit was “strongly not recommended” but they were told he needed to “people see”.
