Wimbledon is asking viewers not to have sex in a room set aside for prayers

LONDON | A quiet room set up for prayer and meditation on the grounds of the Wimbledon tournament has been used for other, less religious purposes since the tournament began.

Onlookers told Britain’s The Guardian newspaper that they saw couples exit the room, dubbed ‘the sanctuary’, with big smiles.

Others explained that they heard screams there that didn’t really sound like tennis encouragement.

Stories that collide

These sex stories obviously contrast with the subdued and somewhat snooty atmosphere of the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament.

Sally Bolton, the head of the All England Club, the venue for Wimbledon, told the Telegraph the sanctuary should remain a key venue for the tournament.

“We’re going to make sure people are using this very important space properly,” she said.
