Windows 11, a simple right click to end a task

Windows 11 Preview released as part of the Windows Insider Program

It will soon be easier to “kill” a task in Windows 11. Microsoft is working on an approach designed to make the process more convenient and faster.

If you currently want to end a stubborn task, one of the approaches is to go through the task manager. There are several ways to do this, but Task Manager is the most popular option for managing processes in Windows.

Microsoft is working on a new option that should succeed. It is done via an entry in the context menu of the taskbar. On twitter @PhantomOfEarth shows that future versions of Windows 11 will include an “End Task” option when “right-clicking” an application’s icon in the taskbar.

This means that it will be possible to end a process with a single “click” of the mouse. Starting the task manager is no longer necessary. This advancement is already available via Windows 11 Build 25300. However, it is hidden and requires a little manipulation to activate it. It is required to use Vivetool utility ID 42592269.

At the moment we don’t know if Microsoft plans to release this novelty to the general public. In fact, the Windows Insider Program DEV channel is a testing ground. In some cases, new features never make it into a general public release. However, it would be surprising if the giant did not consider this, since this novelty is useful and practical. Its “official” arrival in an upcoming preview version will bode well for its future. It only remains to be seen.

It will not be part of the new features of the next “Moment” update, which is scheduled for February or March. The delay is too short considering it hasn’t even been enabled for testers yet. The launch is said to be considered for later, perhaps next fall.
