Within hours, and given the scale of the problem, Microsoft has provided a solution to a Wi-Fi issue affecting Windows 11 PCs. It is linked to update KB5032288.
KB5032288 was proposed as part of Patch Tuesday for December 2023 and causes an issue with corporate and university networks. Given the flood of reports and particularly the attitude of certain universities, Microsoft has confirmed the failure. This affects the establishment of connections to WLAN networks based on the 802.11r standard. Many users reported that they were no longer able to connect to their university or company's WiFi.

A few hours of patience was enough for Microsoft to release a solution. It takes the form of a KIR, a contraction of Know Iproblem ROllback. The giant fixes the problem by reverting the changes made by update KB5032288.
Redmond uses a KIR to remotely control Windows functions on user systems when they are not security-related. This means an important problem can be solved quickly. However, there is one condition. The PC must be connected to the Internet and use the Windows Update service.
Microsoft's remote changes to address this Wi-Fi issue are expected to roll out in the next 24 hours. If you want to speed up the process, we recommend restarting your computer so that Windows Update is prompted at startup. Another solution is to manually download the KIR package as an MSI installer. This will resolve the issue on offline computers.
