Windows 11 Microsoft discreetly introduces two new features review

Windows 11 continues its modernization, Microsoft “deprecates” Win32 P2P services – GinjFo

Windows 11 continues to evolve. When new features are proposed, Microsoft also works on its historical functionalities. Some are gradually being abandoned. This is the case, for example, with Win32 P2P services.

Win32 P2P services have enabled direct interactions between devices without the need for a central server. These services include various things like Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRP), Peer Networking Grouping or even Peer Networking Identity Manager. Note that the PNRP is much more than a service. It is a platform that allows devices To and discover names in a decentralized manner, bypassing traditional DNS servers. DNS is the abbreviation for Domain Name System or in French Domain Name System. Its role on the web is to provide the connection between a domain name like ginjfo.com and its physical address in the form of an IP.

Peer Networking Grouping, in turn, enables clusters of devices that group resources and information. They can be open to everyone or limited to specific members, with authentication via passwords or certificates.

This change will be introduced with the Windows 11 23H2 update. She is expected in a few weeks. It offers improvements to the taskbar, Start menu, and File Explorer. All new features of the Moment 4 update are planned, as well as the replacement of chat by Microsoft Teams in the taskbar or the possibility of renaming a device to Nearby Share (Nearby Sharing for Windows).
